A little bit of stress…
While Fodmapping is what my doctor has me focusing on right now, I have always known that my belly seems to be upset more when I am encountering areas of stress – especially personal stress or anxiety.
Someone suggested to me a while back to have a think about the adult colouring book craze that has been going nuts over the last 12 months.
Normally, reading is what I do to switch my mind off and transport it to places where my personal troubles do not exist, but sometimes, it just isn’t feasible due to time (I am one of those people that once reading, won’t stop for hours without being cranky at being interrupted – damn you responsibilities).
So, I gave it a go, and I am here to report, that I have found it to be quite helpful. The concentration you need to plan what you are going to do with all those little shapes is a very effective way (for me anyhow) to blot out what is going on and simply focus and be. Although I still have to watch the time – before I knew it, I had spent a good hour doodling and colouring away.
This book is called Creative Colouring – Animals, and it is published by Design Originals. I got it at my local shopping centre, I am not sure which store but either one of the department stores (Target for instance) or the newsagent there.
The more I think about it, the more this area is going to be something important to focus as a lifestyle change I can make alongside my diet. I will definitely do more research in this area, and let you know what I come up with! In the meantime, if you have any suggestions or methods that you recommend, please feel free to share them 🙂
